CHP Architects teamed up with Titan Construction for the successful bid of the City of Chilliwack’s Design / Build competition for the Sardis Library. This 986m2 single storey, $2.5 million project opened in the spring on 2013.
A soaring roof, fan shaped North facing window wall, expressive structure utilizing wood where possible, and a flow out to a community exterior plaza all contribute to the architectural aesthetics. The library has three identifiable spaces that flow from the adult space through the teen area into the kids zone. Support office space (including an automated book sorting machine) and community meeting rooms complement the formal Library area.
